I’ve always loved a bold lip, specifically when it comes to red. I don’t know about you, but I have wayyyyy too many red lipsticks in my makeup collection, all of which are extremely different, obvi. No two shades of red are alike. Some have orange undertones, some have blue. Some have a matte finish, some are more amplified. There are SO MANY different shades of red out there, and finding the perfect one for you can be extremely difficult. SO, I’ve rounded up my top 5 favorite shades of red lipstick just in time for Valentine’s Day. Most of the shades I’ve chosen come with matching lip liners, but I paired them with liners I already owned — just to show that you can mix and match different shades with products that might already be in your makeup collection, or products with a lower price point than some of the more expensive lip products out there.
Grab your favorite shade of red lipstick below and pucker up!
- Anastasia Beverly Hills “Spicy” – A little on the brighter side, this orange-red liquid lip color will not budge once it’s applied to your lips. Anastasia Beverly Hills products are extremely pigmented and long-lasting, and are perfect if you have a long night ahead. This lip color will withstand dinner, a movie, or whatever is coming your way for Valentine’s Day, allowing you to focus on your S/O instead of focusing on reapplying your lip color! I paired this with a Jordana lip liner in shade “Sedona Red”, which is $1.99 at drug stores. Can’t beat that price!
- MAC “Ruby Woo” – A cult favorite. This is one of MAC’s most popular shades, and for good reason! With an extreme matte finish, this blue-red shade of lipstick is universally flattering and looks great on any skin tone. Try it for yourself! Ruby Woo was one of the first MAC lipsticks I ever purchased back in high school, and I still love this shade to this day. I also use the same Jordana liner (listed above) for this shade.
- Kylie Cosmetics Liquid Lipkit in “22” – Although this shade is technically a burnt orange, it does end up looking like a shade of bright red once it’s totally dried. I LOVE this shade and always receive multiple compliments every time I wear it. Kylie’s products are all extremely pigmented, long lasting, and smell like cupcakes. LOVE. Also, the Kylie Lip Kits come with matching liners, so you won’t need to go out of your way to find one. How perfect is that?
- Urban Decay “Doubt” – A beautiful shade of red with blue undertones. This lipstick is a “comfort matte”, which means it has a matte finish, but goes on easily and won’t make your lips feel dry. The perfect texture! I typically pair this with Urban Decay’s lip pencil in “Bad Blood”.
- Urban Decay Liquid Lipstick “Crimson” – This rich red color is definitely a go-to. I wore this to a Christmas party this year and got so many compliments! A true, long lasting, extremely pigmented shade of red. I typically pair this with “Brick” by MAC.
I’m linking all of these below, and am including a few more of my favorite shades of red I didn’t include above. Please keep me posted if you try any of these and let me know what you think!
