Happy Friday Eve!
Today I rounded up six of my favorite lipsticks for everyday use. I tried to narrow it down to my top five, but I couldn’t eliminate one… SO, here are six! These lipsticks are all in the nude/pink shade range, are extremely wearable, and look great on any skin tone. What’s not to love about that?
I’ve always sworn by lipstick. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: your makeup look won’t be complete until you’ve added your lipstick. I could have a whole face of heavy makeup on, but until I’ve completed the look with some lipstick, the whole thing just looks… off. The same goes for needing to get ready in a hurry — slap on some mascara and lipstick, and you’ll immediately look like you spent much more time on your appearance than you actually did. Trust me, as the worlds most awful morning person, I practice this on a daily basis when I’m scrambling to get ready for work!
While I thought it would be difficult to pick only a few favorite lipstick shades, I was actually able to narrow down my list pretty easily, simply by not overthinking it. All 6 of these shades are in my purse at any given moment. Yes… all of them. All the time. Plus their matching lip liners. Does that make me a crazy person? Oh well.
MY SIX FAVORITE EVERYDAY SHADES:
Shades in order from left to right:
MAC – “BRAVE” || My all-time-favorite shade. The GOAT. This pink-beige satin lipstick came into my life when I was in college, thanks to my mom who actually purchased it before me (shout out to my beautiful momma for introducing me to the world of cosmetics!) I may or may not have stolen her tube of “Brave” from her (with her permission) and have replenished it multiple times since then. I’ve also recommended this shade to many of my friends, all of whom have purchased and loved it. It’s truly a go-to.
URBAN DECAY – “RUSH” || This creamy, pink-mauve shade is SO pretty. “Rush” is extremely wearable, and matches pretty much everything. I wear this shade to work nearly every single day — switching off between “Rush” and “Brave”, depending on the mood I’m in (….which are not very different moods, considering these two lipsticks are EXTREMELY similar in color. You might as well just go ahead and get both and rotate for no reason, like I do).
KAT VON D – “LOLITA” || If you are a lipstick junkie like me, chances are you’ve seen this shade somewhere before. “Lolita” is a shade of chestnut-rose and is gorgeous. I’ve seen this shade swatched on every skin tone under the sun, and I can attest to the fact that it truly looks stunning on everyone. I have the classic lipstick version, but “Lolita” also comes in a liquid lipstick too, which I have been dying to try out.
MAC – “CRAVING” || Admittedly, this pink-plum shade is a bit bold to be an “everyday” pink. However, I included it into this list because of its creamy texture and its ability to be easily blended with so many other colors. I’ve worn “craving” mixed with every other color on this list, and every shade looks great no matter what. On top of that, the shade is beautiful on it’s own, obvi.
STILA – “PATINA” || WINTER FAVORITE. While I wear most pink lipsticks year round, there are some that I tend to use as more of “seasonal” shades. “Patina” by Stila is my go-to in the fall and winter. Of course, it can be worn in the summertime too, but this liquid lipstick tends to dry a bit on the darker side on me, so I typically tend to stick to the winter months. This shade is GORGEOUS, and I must not be the only person who thinks so! Last year, I went to my local Ulta three different times attempting to buy this, and it was sold out every. single. time. Finally, I just ordered it from Sephora.com and called it a day. I love how long lasting it is — one application is all you need, and you’re good to go for the rest of the day/night. I probably wear this shade 5 or 6 days a week in the wintertime. I actually wore it tonight, right before writing this post!
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – “PURE HOLLYWOOD” || Gorg pale mauve-nude pink liquid lipstick. Don’t be scared of how light it looks when it’s still wet/first applied — the shade gets much darker once it’s dried and is so pretty and flattering. It’s the perfect nude. 10/10 would recommend.
Arm swatches in natural sunlight, and then different lighting to get an idea of how some of the shades might look different depending on the lighting:
And there you have it. I hope this inspired at least one person to up their pink/nude lipstick game! If anyone tries any of these, please let me know what you think. Also, if there are any nude “staples” I’m missing from this list that you think I need to try, please leave a comment and let me know. I am always looking to add to my lipstick collection!
Until next time,
Ashlen
