My jawline has always been an insecurity of mine. Unfortunately, due to genetics, my face has always carried all of my extra weight – specifically in my chin. Although most people have told me it’s “not noticeable”, we all know that we are our own worst critics and I noticed it every time I looked in the mirror. At the beginning of March, I tried Kybella for the first time with OVME here in Charlotte. I received two treatments, and once I was fully healed from those two treatments, I received one syringe of filler in my chin. I am SO happy with my final result, and so much more confident in my chin/jawline. I can’t wait to finally share my experience with Kybella, aka the “Double Chin Eraser”.
Below, I am answering some common questions and providing you with some general information about Kybella. Please keep in mind that I am NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, and this is just general info that anyone can google, and information regarding my experience with Kybella specifically. I highly recommend asking your aesthetician any specific questions you have about the procedure.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is an injection below the chin to improve the appearance of your jawline/profile. It removes what most people refer to as a “double chin”.
How much does Kybella cost?
This is probably the most common question I get asked on Instagram, however, it’s tough for me to answer it. The cost of the procedure will be different for everyone depending on where you get it done, and how many treatments you need. HOWEVER, according to Google, the average treatment costs between $1200 and $1800.
How long does Kybella last?
Kybella is permanent!
Is Kybella painful?
In my personal experience, the injections were not that bad. There was numbing cream applied to my lower chin for about 15 minutes before the injections started, which helped. When it came to the injections, I did feel a slight burning sensation when the needles went into my skin, and the burning lasted for a few minutes after the injections. However, the burning was gone by the time I got home.
What is the Kybella recovery process?
The injected area will swell up almost immediately, and will be sore for a few days. It will remain swollen for about two weeks, from my personal experience — but again, everyone is different! Other than the chin swelling (and slightly resembling a bullfrog, LOL), there is no downtime. You can continue working and carrying on with your day to day life.
How long is the recovery process?
According to Google, and as told by Chelsea (my aesthetician), the recovery process is about a month for each treatment (to ensure the swelling has COMPLETELY gone down). That’s why we scheduled my two treatments to be about a month apart from one another.
Is it worth it & am I happy with the results?
Someone asked me this question on Instagram, and YES. In my opinion, it was soooo worth it and I am extremely happy with my results. There is a noticeable difference in my jawline, and I’m absolutely loving it.
