Happy Monday!
As many of you know, two weeks ago, I got botox for the very first time. I wanted to wait a little bit before writing this post, as Botox takes a few days to kick in, and I wanted to wait to write about anything until I was able to see the full effect. Now that the botox has fully kicked in, I am absolutely LOVING my results, and my life has been forever changed. Not only do I love my appearance on the outside, but I’m feeling more confident in myself which has positively affected my self esteem. If you’ve ever even so much as thought about getting botox, I highly recommend going for it.
I have been getting a TON of questions about my experience, so I want to answer all of the questions to the best of my ability in this blog post. Keep in mind, I am NOT A DOCTOR and I highly recommend consulting the professionals at Dermatology Practice of the Carolinas for any additional questions you might have.
How many units of botox will I need?
This is the most common question I’ve been asked. Unfortunately, it’s tough for me to say, because Botox really depends on the different needs per person. For example, for my first treatment, we used between 25-30 units in my forehead. You might need more units than this, or you may need less! It really just depends on the person.
How long does it last?
Like I said before, I’ve only had the Botox for about two weeks. However, from what I’ve been told, the Botox should last between 3-4 months.
Was there anything you needed to do leading up to the procedure?
Not really! Elisa suggested that I stay away from alcohol for a couple days leading up to the injections, just to be safe. She said alcohol can increase the chances of bruising. I kept this in mind and had absolutely zero bruising.
Did it hurt?
Well, it’s injected with a baby needle! So it really depends on your pain tolerance. For me, it just felt like a teeny pinch. There was a small amount of discomfort, considering I am not a fan of needles, but it was not a big deal. No major pain, and if I can do it then you certainly can too!
Was there swelling?
In the few minutes immediately following the injections, the injection sites were a bit red and inflamed. They looked very similar to mosquito bites. However, by the time I got back in my car and drove home, the redness was completely gone and there was no sign of a procedure being done at all whatsoever.
Who should I contact?

Here are my before and after photos. First of all, let me just say that these are not edited at all whatsoever and I am feeling extremely vulnerable by posting them online for everyone to see. The first photo, I am raising my eyebrows to emphasize the amount of wrinkles. In the second photo, I am attempting to raise my eyebrows, but my forehead stays completely smooth. It’s amazing!!!
