Wow, what a crazy few days it’s been. I can’t believe this weekend is over already. Time really does fly when you’re having fun! I remember when I first found out Marie and Micah were engaged — the wedding seemed like it was forever away, and I couldn’t wait to celebrate with my best friends. Marie is someone who is extremely special to me. We first met in 7th grade student council, and we clicked immediately. Now, here we are at age 27… and to say that I was honored to be a part of her special day is an understatement. I am so grateful to have her in my life and to have celebrated with her this past weekend.
Thursday – Travel Day
My week began like any other week.. until right before I was supposed to fly up for the wedding, of course. I suddenly got hit with the WORST cold out of absolutely no where, and no medicine seemed to be working. I was popping DayQuil like it was my job, and chugging EmergenC. Still, I woke up at 5:30AM on Thursday morning for my 7AM flight, and was coughing and sneezing the whole way up to Hartford. I felt and looked like a compleeeete disaster. Once I landed at the Hartford, CT airport, I waited for my friends Mimi and Christina to pick me up on their way up to Vermont. The car ride was a little over three hours, which we spent catching up with one another and talking about how excited we were for the upcoming festivities.
When we finally got to our Airbnb, we were obsessed. The house was SO adorable, and looked just like it did in the photos! You can see the exact house we stayed in here. The house was spacious, clean, and had an incredible view of the mountains. It even came with a hot tub, which we certainly enjoyed during our stay. If you are looking to visit the Warren, Vermont area, I highly recommend staying at this house.
Later that night, we went to Foam brewery and then grabbed creemees — the most delicious ice cream cones ever! If anyone is reading this that’s experienced creemees, then you know what I’m talking about. They’re pretty much just maple flavored ice cream cones that we added chocolate and maple flavored sprinkles to. They were SO good.
Friday – Rehearsal
Friday morning was spent going on a short hike (2.2 miles) to spend a little bit of time outdoors. Might as well go for a hike when you’re surrounded by such beautiful scenery, amirite? DayQuil did the trick and got me up the mountain without dying of a coughing attack. #MedicineFTW. After our hike, we grabbed some delish sandwiches from a local deli, and began showering and getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal was held at the Green Mountain Club, which is dedicated to preserving Vermont’s Long Trail (FUN FACT: The Long Trail is the oldest long distance hiking trail in America. You learn something new every day. You’re welcome). At the Green Mountain Club, wedding guests enjoyed lawn games, local Vermont craft beer, and some farm to table food catered by a local restaurant.
Saturday – Wedding Day
THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. No, seriously. The other bridesmaids and I woke up Saturday morning full of energy and ready for an INCREDIBLE day ahead. We were showered and ready to walk out the door at 11AM, at which point we headed straight to the Skinner Barn where the wedding was to take place. Once we arrived, we got ready in the most gorgeous room where we changed into our robes, drank mimosas, and started doing our hair and makeup. Photographers joined us to take photos as we finished touching up last minute details, and before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony.
Marie looked absolutely stunning — she was truly the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen! After the most perfect ceremony, guests headed over to the bar for some signature cocktails and opportunities for photos. Before long, it was time to head into the barn for the reception, where there were old photos on each table to take the guests for a ride down memory lane. See my photo below from when we were in middle school! TIME FLIES.
My friends and I took about a million photos in the photo booth, drank plenty of wine, and danced the night away. The reception was followed by an after-party at the groomsmen’s house, which was definitely one for the books. Can I just hang out with my best friends EVERY SINGLE DAY? Is that too much to ask?
Sunday – Saying Our Goodbyes
BRB, crying. No, really… emotions were high on Sunday. You see, I rarely ever get to see these girls, and it’s even more rare that I get to see all of them at the same time. It’s extremely tough to plan get-together’s when your friends live all across the country! When we said goodbye at the Bachelorette party, it didn’t seem like a huge deal, because we knew we would all be seeing one another again extremely soon — for an even bigger party. However, now that that time has come and gone, there aren’t any upcoming plans on the horizon for us to see one another. Looks like we’ll just have to plan another trip!
