I seriously cannot believe it’s almost Memorial Day Weekend. This year is flying by faster than I can even process. I mean, I honestly feel like it was only yesterday that I was ringing in the new year in Connecticut with a few of my closest friends, freezing my booty off in CT weather. But, here we are. Summertime in Charlotte, and Memorial Day Weekend which always holds a special place in my heart.
For those who don’t know, Memorial Day Weekend has always been special on my mom’s side of the family. Aside from the extremely obvious reason to celebrate Memorial Day where we celebrate and remember those who fought for our country, there is another fun event that’s always celebrated over that weekend.
Memorial Day Weekend means it’s time for the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. My grandpa, Eldon Rasmussen, raced in the Indy 500 in the 70s. He is without a doubt the most bada$$ human I’ve ever met, and I can’t wait to elaborate more on his Indy career in a blog post that is solely dedicated to the Indy 500 — coming soon.
